Since we are updating the Roller platform, might as well get the latest and greatest, which thus far is Roller 3.1 RC3. The front page finally works, after a tweak to add the SiteModel to roller-custom.properties. Dave said we shouldn't have to do that, but apparently we still do : # Set of models to be made available for weblog page rendering Under Roller 3.0 previously, the front page didn't work even with this tweak. Well, you know what they say about "dot zero" versions ... :) The calendar is still off by one day, despite a fix that should have been in by 3.1 RC2. Will have to look at this one later. Other than that, there are just some minor cosmetic glitches in the blog templates. ( Jan 25 2007, 06:46:23 PM SGT ) PermalinkPost1.Net is now running on Roller 3.0. It's a huge jump from 1.0 which we have been sitting on for ... years. Our Java hosting provider EatJ has graciously allowed us to migrate to the new JDK-1.5 server running on Tomcat 5.5 without any additional charge. Might as well take this opportunity to update the Roller platform. The migration has been much smoother than anticipated. Just some minor hiccups with the new front page layout, porting of the password hashes, and a db script that turned out to be un-needed. ( Jan 23 2007, 06:56:31 PM SGT ) PermalinkThe Roller version has been rolled back to 1.0, pending further investigation into the database connection problems encountered with 1.2. ( Jul 04 2005, 06:55:35 AM SGT ) PermalinkPost1.Net is now running on Roller 1.2, which is a couple of jumps up from 1.0 previously. The list of changes is as shown here. A small "back-hack" is in place in order to show the "old-style" URL's, so users should not observe that much of a difference. This is because the 1.2 release has got this new URL system which totally spoils the navigation flow (backward/forward pagination by post, and also by category) by showing only a single weblog entry. And no, the administrator and users here do *not* particularly care about trackbacks, which looks like the only new observable "thing" about the new system. ( Jul 03 2005, 11:52:16 PM SGT ) PermalinkThe version of Roller hosted on Post1.Net has been updated from 1.0RC2 to 1.0. It mostly consists of bug-fixes, so there should not be too many discernible differences for users. ( Jan 26 2005, 10:10:03 PM SGT ) Permalink |
