Today, I went to the one-month celebration function of the second child of my long-time friend and ex-classmate, Eric, and his wife, whom we'll refer to as Clouds, who's an ex-Vaxer, ex-NTU, and also current DP member. We all go back quite a few years. A decade? More. Congratulations to them both. Dreary rain all day, and I didn't get to see any of the other DP members either. Grumble. Had to leave after only a while because I needed to help my parents settle some stuff. So it was Sengkang to Bukit Batok and to Hougang. I'm sure I've contributed quite a bit to ongoing oil depletion and global warming in the cross-country trip today, but hey *shrug* a friend's a friend, and it's not like it's an everyday thing. A little disappointing though - I saw mostly colleagues of his, all of whom I don't know anyway. Where were the friends? Maybe they came later. Maybe not. Clouds said something about this blog being "cut and paste". "I can't read it", she said. Too dense. That's right, that's the style here - it's not meant for casual readers, I replied. It's for my own reference actually, and I do refer back quite often when somebody asks me something on some topic and I recall that I've blogged it before, so I can re-read it and send off the link via YM or something. In fact, come to think of it, I did actually help Eric before, in exactly this fashion. Well, it's not really new, this comment of "no original content". Current colleagues have also remarked on this same thing. Helpful hint - look under the Musings category (click on the category chooser above). There *is* some, just not very often, and of a highly irregular frequency - maybe one "original content" post in a week. Or two. Or three. It's not that I don't type fast enough (80 wpm ought to be fast enough), or that I have nothing to say (I have plenty to say), or that I don't like to write (my first article published on the national newspaper was written for fun, and on a whim), or that *gasp* I'm too lazy to update my own blog (you kiddin' me?). It's just that there are only so many hours in a day. And it's already past midnight here and now. Good night! (2006-01-09 00:25:56 SGT)

I actually appreciate people who act as "filters" of information. People like that are of a high value in this age of information overload, IMO. Keep on posting :)
