You definitely have more freedom than described
if you think about it seriously.

The problem is that masses conform to society.
e.g. survive today, ensure survival in future, and try to be fulfilled with everchanging capital needs.

But people do make history big or small.
I have no doubt you are going to look back at 10 year anniversary of blog or even 20 because you have took the 1st step and continued...
