It's sort of "coming of age" for Channel NewsAsia which re-launched its new look on 17 July. Viewers will notice a completely different on-air look, in-house trailers and colour scheme. Apart from the staple top-of-the-hour news bulletins, there are also new weekend programmes. Woon Tai Ho, Managing Director of MediaCorp News, said: "We have come out with a concept called platinum lifestyle; it's really high-end leisure, high-end travel, high-end dining and high-end spending, so we could have programmes from watches to cars, hunting for wine to hunting for property ..." - Yes, it's a nice new look, and yes, on Business Times they have been discussing the good times being enjoyed by property developers in the ultra high end of the property market, but I do wish that they wouldn't rub in the whole "rich getting richer, poor getting poorer" thing, you know what I mean? - lol, "platinum lifestyle" ... - so what if I do hold some of these platinum cards? The moment I get one of these $180 "annual fee renewal" statements, I'll cancel the card. Not like it's doing me $180 worth of good. Obviously, to paraphrase a certain fellow named Kenobi, "I'm not the spender they are looking for". lol. But I have to give credit where it's due to them, for making content available where other, shall we say, "not as generous" media outlets have been putting content behind paid subscription walls. It's good to know that some information is still free - for now. (2006-07-17 18:14:05 SGT)
