Norway oil output peaking

peakoil.com -> upstreamonline.com :

Norway's oil output is peaking at around 3 million barrels per day and will stay at this level for the next four to five years before the country switches focus to natural gas production, a senior government official said.

"We are sort of on the peak of oil production (and) we will stay here for four or five years and then switch to gas," Reuters quoted Anders Bjarne Moe, director general of the Oil & Energy Ministry, as saying at an oil and offshore conference.

- Amazingly consistent, as Norway had indicated back in Oct 2004 that it was about to peak at 3 mbpd.

Russia may face gas supply crisis in 2 years

peakoil.com -> en.rian.ru :

A crisis of natural gas supplies may hit Russia in two years, the economic development and trade minister said. German Gref said last fall Russia was facing energy problems.

Energy consumption levels in the Russian capital rose to historic highs last winter as the cold snap reached its peak in January-February, when temperatures in Moscow were periodically dropping as low as -32°C (-25.6°F).

Moscow energy utility Mosenergo was forced to cut supplies to some industrial and commercial consumers in order to maintain power and heat deliveries to residential customers and critical services.

- And this is one of the countries that Singapore wishes to import LNG from? But wait, what kind of crisis was the minister referring to? A search of my blog entries reveals this observation :

In January, Russia had problems when its oil and gas wells froze from extreme cold while in June when it was presumably warmer, Russia overtook Saudi Arabia. How's that for seasonal variations?
