japanese cheesecake? sounds (and looks) like a yummer. baked or non-baked?

mmm.... that sounds delicious, and looks really good too! is it a baked cheesecake? if yes, can share recipe please? i've been hunting for a baked cheesecake that is not as 'heavy' as western-style cheesecakes, more like sponge cake with cheese. now that you say "japanese cheesecake" (never heard the term before this), i wonder if that is it?!

ame, i not culinary expert lar.. most times picture look nice does not equal taste nice!! and my expectaction is VERY VERY VERY low.. cos i'm the eat to live type.. i'm not a food lover.
sue, this is baked.. next time i share steaming type of recipe.. u are like my mom.. EVERY time ask me, bake or non bake.. and only want non bake recipe.. heh.. understandable cos no oven mar.. ;).. dun worry it wun be kao-thng-kuih (9-layer kuih) or kim kuih kek (pumpkin kuih) or huat kuih.. all those normally i will not try.. ke ke..
snowie.. yes, this is the spongy type.. i think it's called japanese cheesecake, some call it cotton cheesecake.. i will scan the recipe and share with you.. u know, gardenia got sell! normally in oval shape abt $5.. at cold storage chiller section.. together with philadephia cheese, cheese, butter.. u can check it out.. i'm sure m'sia has too! also, in sg thy hv quite a famous bakery that sell this type.. miki ojisan.. eh, got in KL too..

the only hateful thing abt this is the water bake.. i so so so so worried i will drop the hot water onto my toes!.. VERY dangerous.. so, be warned.. :P
wonder what is a safer method..

oh goody, this is exactly the type of cheesecake i was looking for!! yes, i know they sell it, but i wanna BAKE my own!! just didnt know what recipe to look for...
as for the water bath, one good way is to put the dry big pan in the oven first with the smaller filled pan inside, then only fill with hot water from kettle - just have to be careful not to splash it into the smaller pan (and make sure your oven tray is stable and won't tilt whilst you're pouring the water!). easier than pour first then shiver-shiver carry to the oven :)

yea.. and push aside the smaller batter-filled pan to a corner first so u hv more gap to pour the hot boiling water into it..
BUT, my problem is my oven!.. my oven is small and it's a microwave convection type.. so the rack is resting on a turntable.. and the turntable resting on some turning metal piece that goyang goyang and not stabil!!
so, i'm doing the shiver shiver carry into oven method.. think i shd wear boots next time.. just in case!!
aiyo why must cheesecake be so leceh!
tonight i promise i scan for you!!

edit:
yea.. and push aside the smaller batter-filled pan to a corner first so u hv more gap to pour the hot boiling water into it..
and then pull/push the smaller batter pan to the center.
