Letters.. paper and pen letters..
errr.. mabbe not very real letters yet.. but still these were the first..
you see, Soka Kindergarten has a post office that is run by the students themselves.. the K1(5yo) and K2 (6yo) students will take turn to run the post office -- sort letters, deliver, etc.. so, yesterday ken received 2 letters.. he was very excited.. when i called him on the phone, he was telling me dolphin, dolphin.. but i din't understand.. as we do not have dolphin toys nor VCDs.. anyway, the moment i stepped into our home ytd, ken rushed to me showing me his letters..
So, I called the teacher and asked, "Have they started to use the post office?"
She said, "Oh.. they have started since last term.."
I asked, "Then how come he just received the letters?"
She said, "The students will decide who they want to write to."
in my head, *panicked*, and "oh dear, how can i help ken to be popular to have letters sent to him!"
*light bulb*.. *will ask teacher for class name list and mabbe stick some stickers as bribery*
I asked, "Can i have the namelist of his classmates? Then I can ask ken to write to all of them"
She said, "Oh no.. you just ask ken who he wants to write to. He will be able to tell you. Don't worry"
I like have very little confidence in ken, ya? The teacher is so sure he will know who to write to.. So, just now, i asked ken, "do u want to send something you draw to your friends in school?"
Ken said, "yes, send to Low Ting Jie".. name in chinese!!!! HOW in the world will i know how to write?!? Even EM with B3 in Chinese language as first language don't know how to write.. how to ask me to write, with no formal chinese language education except those 3 x45min a week lessons in primary school?.. pengz.. "Ken what his name in english?!?".. Ken said, "Lucas".. alamak.. should have told me earlier mar.. let me panick for nothing..
but besides that Lucas boy, i told ken to draw something to reply to his 2 classmates that send him something.. ain't these children cute?.. reminds me of my lovely penpals day.. where i spend hours writing to them.. but those will be stories for another time, perhaps..
guess, this is a creative way to encourage the children to write.. my ken has really grown.
