Carrier retouched with Chinese New Year Animals Zodiac

Ken and Wenn's school will be having a Chinese New Year party this friday.. they were asked to bring 2 oranges to exchanged with their friends.. i thot letting them bring to school with this carrier below is cute.. heh.. basically, i cut a normal paper carrier into 2, refold the top.. punch hole.. re-thread with the original handles.. there we have them.. mini-carriers for children.. easier for them to handle.. ;)

oh, and then, i print the animals zodiac and let them paste on the carrier in sequence.. i numbered them.. 6 animals on each side..

After years of teaching ken sight words.. since 15 Jan 2007 (3y 7m 3d).. we have now = 19 Jan 2009 (5y 7m 7d), finally complete both list below.. 92 words after TWO years:

But I am so proud of us.. we have come a loooooong way.. :).. for this year, ken and i shall work on maths and chinese.. *gulp*.. a tall order since i didn't learn chinese in school except for 3 years of my primary school life.. and that also was like 40min lessons, 3x a week.. and i did take some months of chinese night classes.. was so embarassed when i registered for the night school because it was run by my grand uncle, who is very famous in Chinese community in Malaysia.. he was one of the pioneers in promoting Chinese education in Malaysia during the early days of Malaya indepedence, if i'm not mistaken.. so to be in Sim family and not know chinese is quite a "sin".. but when i registered that time, he has mellowed.. he just said something to the effect that it is better late than never..

The funny thing about my family was, my 3 older siblings went to chinese primary school.. then the number 4th which is my 2nd sis was sent to "english" primary school.. or rather sekolah kebangsaan.. meaning all subjects was taught in malay.. my father's rationale then was my 2nd sis is very slow/weak in studies.. he think she will struggle if she was sent to chinese primary school and then when moved on to secondary school she will have to learn malay.. he thought that she will not be able to cope.. which was true, i think.. then when came to registering me for primary school, my dad just placed me with my 2nd sis.. this was because i was such a cry baby!!.. so, my dad thought that if i'm together with my 2nd sis, she can looked out for me.. which was true.. the whole of primary one (standard one), i cried EVERY morning.. don't ask me why.. i can still remember me crying.. :P.. i'm such a cry baby.. i must be born with leaky tear glands!

anyway, i've digress.. back to ken.. he's doing much better than before.. and i'm so happy
