All About Mineral Makeup (MMU) - Silk Naturals, She Space, Lumiere, Bare Minerals.. lost?

The following "article" was written by my friend, Lara (not her real name) in exchange for a starbuck cuppa.. heh.. i owe u one kopi.. hope you won't get to tan ku ku..

What is Mineral Make-Up?
Mineral Make-Up (MMU) is not new to the market. It has been around since the 1970s. But because of people embracing the concept of a 'better living', it has now been revived and is set to 'revolutionalize' the beauty industry.

MMU's products are touted to be made of all natural, finely ground minerals from the earth, without any of the chemicals, dyes, and preservatives found in traditional makeup. Often, people with sensitive and acne-prone skin can use MMU as the formulation is, unlike traditional products, hypoallergenic, contains no perfumes, talc, alcohol, dyes, mineral oil or preservatives. And another plus point is that most MMU companies claim that because the ingredients are so natural, it even nourishes the skin. One has to only try it to see its effects.

Why use Mineral Make-Up?
Great for people with sensitive skin. MMU is so light that it doesn't clog pores, hence, doesn't aggravate acne-prone and sensitive skin. People with allergies can even use it as it doesn't contain ingredients found in unfriendly commercial make-up.

MMU's texture is light and different. It doesn't give the wearer a feel of wearing make-up. Commercial make-up can often make the wearer feels as if she is wearing a mask. MMU melds beautifully into the skin. Even if the make up is piled on in layers for a heavier coverage, it doesn't feel cakey. You will only see a natural, translucent radiance that only great skin can give. Best of all, the make up still allows the skin to breathe.

MMU contains naturally occurring ingredients that nourishes the skin at the same time. Triple-milled minerals like titanium, gold, zinc, magnesium and aluminum naturally relax, refresh and rejuvenate the skin. Some companies have products that contain silk and pearl - the Chinese have been using these ingredients for thousands of years.

Because of the light texture, MMU does not enhance wrinkles like traditional powders that can cake in areas around the forehead, crow's feet and laugh lines. With MMU ingredients, the essential vitamins, antioxidants and ingredients from the earth actually hydrates the skin and conceal wrinkles.

Natural sunblock! Mineral makeup's zinc oxide offers natural UVA-UVB protection.

MMU can be used after skin procedures such as lasers and peels are common. Because of its natural ingredients, it actually calms and heals the skin. Often after these treatments, users will have to lay off make-up for some time, but not with MMU!

It is so natural that you can sleep in it! Really! Of course, like any good girls who uses make-up, proper cleansing is a must. But for those late nights partying, one need not worry about proper cleansing!

Compliments! Compliments! Try MMU, you'll hear nothing but compliments about the glow on your skin and the silky, light feel the make-up has on your skin. It even lasts through work, to a barbeque on a hot, humid day. No oily skin either!

Where can I get Mineral Make-up?
Do a google and a whole list comes up. The thing that is so great with MMU is that, often, companies allow sample kit that doesn't burn a hole in your pocket. Try MMU from a few companies before you settle for one. (Warning: Trying of samples can be addictive!) With the favourable USD exchange rate, there is nothing to lose!
My current favourites:

- This one you blend your own foundation! Fun! Fun! Fun!
- This one for lovely eye shadows and blushes
- This one gives good coverage but I found it a tad too drying for my combination skin
- This has been around for a long time
- I haven't tried this personally but it has been raved

How do I apply Mineral Make-Up?
Basic tools for MMU application is a big Kabuki Brush (available from any of the company that you purchase your MMU from). I use it for my foundation to my blushes. Just remember three basic application steps of MMU application - "Swirl, Tap, Buff". Of course, you can buy the brushes for eye shadow application. Again, youtube has plenty of tutorials on MMU application.

Something to start you off:
